Graphene lightbulbs will soon be in stores

Graphene bulbs use 10% more energy, lasts longer, and is cheaper than other light bulbs currently available on the market. This bulb was developed by the National Graphene Institute at The University of Manchester. This dimmable bulb was created at The University of Manchester and features a filament-shaped LED that is coated with graphene. It’s the strongest known material, about 200 stronger than steel. Graphene, which is thin enough to be considered a 2-dimensional material, is also very thin. According to the National Graphene Institute, graphene bulbs will use less energy and be more affordable than existing energy-saving bulbs. They also have a longer lifespan. Both were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics, as well as knighthoods. Graphene Lighting was Canadian-funded and developed the bulb. Professor Colin Bailey is the University of Manchester’s deputy vice-chancellor. He also serves as a director of Graphene Lighting. According to the makers, the graphene bulbs will cost less than current LED bulbs that retail for around PS 15. It is a good conductor of heat and electricity. The lightbulb’s developers claim that graphene conducts heat and electricity more efficiently than other products on the market. Graphene is a single-layer of carbons arranged in a hexagonal pattern. It’s 200 stronger than steel. It’s the lightest and thinnest material on the planet. It is considered a two-dimensional object by scientists. Image: Wikipedia. Prof. Bailey stated that graphene bulbs will consume less energy. It will last for longer, we expect. It has lower manufacturing costs and uses less-expensive components. Professor Sir Kostya Novacelov led him through the state-of-the art cleanrooms, laboratories and other facilities. It will allow industry and academics alike to collaborate on graphene applications of the future. More than 35 companies around the world have expressed an interest in working with the University of Manchester to develop graphene-related projects. UK provided PS 38 millions for construction of NGI through the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council), while the ERDF [European Regional Development Fund] funded the PS 23 remaining million. According to Mr. Osborne, “Building a Northern Powerhouse requires supporting science and innovation.” The University of Manchester’s new National Graphene Institute will gather leading scientists, academics and business leaders. It is a 7 ,825 meter facility with five floors that features the most advanced equipment to make it the leading graphene research center in the world. Graphene is a hugely promising NGI. Scientists believe there are many applications for graphene that can be used in electronic products. Semi-transparent and flexible electronic devices may not be science fiction anymore, according to researchers. The University claims that the NGI’s 1 ,500 metre clean room is the largest academic space for graphene research in the world. Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell is the President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Manchester. She stated that the NGI’s 1,500 square metres of clean room space will make it the largest academic space for graphene research in the world. Video – Graphene. The National Graphene Institute plays a vital role in continuing world-class graphene-research that was initiated in Manchester.
