Higgs Boson Physics Paper has a mega-record 5,154 Authors

Physical Review Letters published a paper that attempts to provide a better estimate of the Higgs Boson Mass. It had a record five ,154 authors. There has never been a more collaborative scientific paper. 33 pages make up the article. is the identifying the names and institutions of the authors. This is the first paper jointly written by two scientific teams, the ATLAS Collaboration and the CMS Collaboration. They operate two large detectors at CERN’s LHC (Large Hadron Collider), the most powerful and largest particle collider on the planet. It also houses the world’s largest single machine. CERN’s Large Hadron Collider has seen thousands of scientists and engineers work. Image: CERN. Each team includes hundreds of scientists representing many institutions. They were able combine their data to get the best estimate of the Higgs Boson Mass to date. The Higgs Boson The Higgs Boson (also known as the Higgs particle) is one type of particle that is part of The Standard Model in particle physics. These rules outline the basic building blocks of our understanding of the Universe. The Higgs boson, which gives mass to other particles, is simply put. Robert Garisto was an editor at Physical Review Letters. He explained that the task of completing the article was more difficult than dealing with large teams. Davide Castelvecchi wrote in Nature News that Mr. Garisto stated: “The greatest problem was merging author lists from two collaborations, each with its own distinct styles.” Each author will appear in the printed version of Physical Review Letters.
