iPhone SE 3 predicted to resemble iPhone XR with Touch ID built into a power button

Apple’s third-generation iPhone SE could resemble iPhone XR, which launched in 2018, and have Touch ID embedded into a power button. Apple could make it the last LCD-based phone, as the rest of its models use OLED panels.

iPhone SE 3 to sport an iPhone XR-like design?

Chinese site MyDrivers says that the next iPhone SE model will be released in spring 2022, filing as Apple’s last smartphone equipped with an LCD display. It appears that the new iPhone SE model will be similar to the iPhone XR.

If the rumor is true, the iPhone SE’s third generation will shed its huge forehead and chin to allow for the fullscreen display. Face ID will be added to the iPhone SE. According to rumors, Touch ID could be integrated into the power button of iPhone SE 3, just like it was with iPad Air 4 or iPad mini 6.

It doesn’t exclude Face ID but it would be surprising to see FaceID on iPhone SE3. This is probably more appealing than what you expected, as Touch ID has proven its value during the epidemic. You can unlock your iPhone using your mask on

. As an added bonus, there is no iPhone SE notch with Face ID.

The third-generation iPhone SE will feature an upgraded design and relocated Touch ID buttons. It should also have 5G cellular connectivity, as well as a more powerful Apple chip.

What are the odds that this rumor is true?

Very low, we think. This is a poor, sketchy story that was published on a website known for publishing crazy rumors indiscriminately. That’s not to say MyDrivers doesn’t have its share of hits. This story contradicts a rumor by Mac Otakara that the new iPhone SE would be almost identical to the existing model, as the design will not change.

Display analyst Ross Young was first to report in April 2021 that the next iPhone SE might retain a 4.7-inch LCD screen and release sometime in 2022.

Now, Mac Otakara is a far more reliable outlet than MyDrivers when it comes to reporting on Apple’s internal plans and unreleased products. Ming-Chi Kuo was the first Apple analyst to correctly predict the new 4.7 inch iPhone SE design.

iPhone SE 3 should replace the iPhone mini models that Apple is understood to be phasing out from its 2022 lineup due to poor sales and disappointing battery life.
