NASA has asked the public for their opinion on Ceres’ mysterious bright spot. It is located between Jupiter and Mars orbits. NASA’s Dawn spacecraft began orbiting Ceres in March 2015. Images of the dwarf planet showed an intriguing bright spot, and another one that was darker, before Dawn’s orbit began.
This captured the attention of scientists as well as laypeople. We will not know what these spots are until Dawn is super close in the coming months. How bright do you believe this bright spot is and what its companion? NASA allows people to choose from one of these options (for the brightness they think the bright spot may be),: Rock, Ice or Salt Deposit, Volcano, Geyser and Rock. Is there anything else that ‘Other could refer to? It is truly surprising and remains a mystery.
