Nintendo Switch Passed 50 Million Users

Congratulations to Nintendo and their success console Switch! On December 31, 2019, 52.48 million copies of their flexible gaming machine had been sold. A welcome success after the difficulties with its predecessor Wii U, which stood at 13.5 million.

Switch is thus about the 90s console SNES, which stopped at 49 million copies. It has nine million left to the NES (61.9 million). Nothing indicates anything other than Switch fixing it this year.

The question is whether Switch can make it past the best seller Wii, which stopped at 101.6 million. And whether it is the Playstation 4 or the end of this one console generation: the PS4 has a three and a half year lead, and stands at a massive 106 million. However, the Xbox One may already be passed. Microsoft does not report any sales figures for it, but it is believed to have gone for just over 50 million items by this time.

Games are sold to Switch as well, and Nintendo is just as generous with the numbers there. 310 million “software” have been sold to the machine. Top 5 list:

  • Game
  • Sold items (Million)
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 22.96
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 17.68
  • Super Mario Odyssey: 16.59
  • Zelda: Breath of the Wild: 16.34
  • Pokémon Sword / Pokémon Shield: 16.06
