Bjarne, a Swedish Loch Ness Monster fan and aficionado, won the L2 ,000 cash award for best photograph even though he’s never visited Scotland. While looking out at the lake from his computer 800 far away, Mr. Sjostrand made a Google Earth screenshot. A thin object appeared under the water from Horse Shoe Scree, on the southern shore of the Loch. This was what Sjostrand noticed in his Google Earth image. A poll online on Inverness Courier’s website chose Mr. Sjostrand’s picture, defeating five other candidates for William Hill’s annual Loch Ness Monster sighting contest. Anything about Nessie or the history of Loch Ness is something I’m interested in. This image was found by me on Google Earth because I was reading online about Nessie, Loch Ness and the history of Loch Ness. Although I’ve never visited Scotland, my dreams are of one day.” The Inverness Courier reported that Nessie was still alive on December 31st 2014, as she was heading towards Loch Ness. Surprisingly in 2013, there wasn’t one sighting of Nessie, which was her first appearance in 90 year. Five sightings of the monster have been reported in the 12 past months. William Hill’s annual photo contest was suspended in January due to a lack of sightings. Gary Campbell, a veteran Nessie spotter, said that “She has returned roaring back” in 2014.. There have been many sightings. We have had sightings from images in space, while those who live around Loch Ness have reported seeing things that they’ve never seen before.
