British astronaut Major Tim Peake made the first space prank phone call. He called a confused woman from the International Space Station by mistake and asked her “Is this the planet Earth?”. Major Peake sent a tweet on Christmas Eve: “I would like to apologize to the woman I called asking for ‘Hello, planet Earth?’ – this was not a prank phone call…just an incorrect number!” ITV TV reports that his parents didn’t answer the phone when he tried to call them to wish them Merry Christmas. He had to leave an apology message. It is possible that the lady was first to receive a incorrect number from space. (Image: twitter.com/astro_timpeake) Tim Peake, a former army major of the regular British Army Air Corps, who is also a helicopter pilot and flying instructor, is the first British International Space Station crew member. The European Space Agency employs him. Major Peake, a London Marathon runner in space, will take part in the London Marathon from space. He will do it on the ISS 2016, while orbiting Earth. The marathon will be followed by Major Peake on large monitors as he is strapped to a treadmill. Major Peake enjoys triathlon and cross-country running. Let’s make it a global event. It’s the ability to interact with everyone down here that is what I look forward most. Microgravity would cause me to float so I must wear a harness that is similar to a rucksack. The International Space Station (ISS), flew above Britain on Christmas Eve. The ISS was visible in evening skies, with the sun rising in the west at 4:45 p.m. 42 at 4:05 p.m. and 4. 50 p.m. 50 p.m. The ISS, a human-made spacecraft is the largest ever built. The ISS is 45 tons in weight and has a remarkable 356 foot metre (which is slightly larger than a football pitch). In this tweet, Major Peake has made clear which football team he supports (Image: twitter.com/astro_timpeake) ISS has been occupied non-stop since November 2000. More than 2100 astronauts have been to the ISS in 15 different countries over the past 15years. Every crew member spends 35 hours per semaine conducting research and experiments in a variety of disciplines. This is to improve scientific knowledge in Earth and space sciences. Video – Tim Peake, Scott Kelly and Tim Kopra wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
