British astronaut Tim Peake will stay 1 month longer on ISS

British astronaut Major Tim Peake (pictured above) has been announced by the European Space Agency. He was the one who launched to the International Space Station (ISS), on 15th Dec. The British astronaut Tim Peake will join Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko and NASA astronaut Tim Kopra. He’ll be orbiting Earth from 173 day until 2016. June. Three astronauts, including a small Soyuz TMA M spacecraft operated by Roscosmos, will take off from Russia’s Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan. According to the BBC, Major Peake will complete the longest European Space Agency mission yet. There is still much to be done before the launch. The spacemen must undergo a series of physical and medical tests, as well as review their plans to travel to the ISS for six hours. They’ll be living in semi-quarantined conditions until December th. This will prevent them from coming into contact with any other humans. Principia is Major Peake’s mission. The mission was named Principia after the text of Sir Isaac Newton that outlined gravity and motion. His experiments will include the growth of blood vessels cells, protein crystals, and testing on metals. The European Space Agency says that this mission will place a particular emphasis on education. Peake, Malenchenko and Kopra stand behind the Sokol suits that they’ll be wearing on launch day. Two weeks prior to blast off, Soyuz astronauts will be able to test their suits and spacecraft. Every suit and seat in the spacecraft is custom-made to ensure safety and comfort. NASA claims that many of the spacecraft experiments conducted by astronauts will be beneficial to Earth and future crews.
