On February 27th, the Mars Curiosity Rover experienced a short circuit. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory says that the vehicle shut down as engineers examine the issue. Curiosity’s robotic arm, which was trying to move surface powder into its container with sample containers, encountered an electrical problem. NASA engineers expect Curiosity to resume normal operations within a few days. It will be stationary until then. The vehicle’s drill after completing a drilling operation is shown in this view taken by the Mast Camera (Mastcam), NASA’s Curiosity Marr rover. Jim Erickson (Mars.jpl.nasa.gov/), Curiosity Project Manager said that “we are running tests on our vehicle in its current configuration before moving the arm or drive. NASA states that any transient failure in one or more of its systems will have negligible impact on the overall operation. The team might decide to limit the use of one mechanism in others. Curiosity began to transfer the rock powder collected from the drill arm into laboratory instruments inside the vehicle. Curiosity drilled this hole at “Telegraph Peak”, a small rock target, on February 24th. The short circuit occurred while it was trying to transfer some powder to its instruments. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory team stated that the powder being collected was from Telegraph Peak, a rock target. The same process of transferring samples was used in 2013 as 2014,. NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory Project claims that the rover is being used by NASA to evaluate ancient environments on Mars and significant changes in Mars’ environmental conditions.
Home Innovation NASA says that the Mars Curiosity Rover short circuits, and it will remain inactive for several more days.
