Brian Muirhead is the Chief Engineer of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Caltech). www.starwars.com says that the Death Star was an Empire weapon. It was a space station of moon size with the power to devastate entire planets. The Emperor, Grand Moff Tarkin and other Imperial officers underestimated the Rebel Alliance’s tenacity. They refused to surrender to technological terror. . “. The Death Star is also called the First Death Star (Death Star I), and DS-1 Platform. The Ultimate Weapon and Sentinel Base were previously its names. The station was an enormous deep-space mobile battle station of moon size that featured a primary weapon capable of destroying entire planets in one shot. Image: www.starwars.com. Mr. Muirhead claims he first saw Star Wars in June 1977.. He remembers the first sequence of the film’s opening scene, in which an Imperial-class star destroyer moved across the screen. It was then that he wondered what society could build such an advanced and massive machine. Asteroid contains all necessary ingredients for a Death Star. In an interview with Wired Mr. Muirhead stated that “If you want to build a Death Star you won’t launch a lot of stuff from a planet.” It would be possible to get an asteroid, and build it using that. It has organic compounds and water, which are all you need for your Death Star family. Mr. Muirhead knows a lot about asteroid science. His current work is on NASA’s Asteroid Redirect Mission. This mission will be the first to ever land on an asteroid near Earth, collect a boulder weighing over a ton from the surface and then redirect the object into orbit around the Moon. After the satellite is in orbit, astronauts will examine it and bring back samples to Earth. Brian Muirhead earned his B.Sc. In mechanical engineering, the University of New Mexico 1977, awarded Brian Muirhead a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. In mechanical engineering, from the University of New Mexico in 1977, and an M.Sc. in aeronautical Engineering at Caltech in 1982.. NASA awarded him the Exceptional Achievement Medal and the Exceptional Leadership Medals to recognize his efforts on SIR-C. He was named a Jet Propulsion Laboratory Fellow in 2009,. His books include ‘High Velocity Leadership,’ and “Going to Mars”. It will be a remarkable feat, even though it is not as impressive as building a Death Star. Ion propulsion is the key technology in getting a spacecraft to an asteroid. It is also the technology that propelled the Star Wars sub-light spacecraft. NASA uses four ion engines for any asteroid redirect mission. One blast from the Death Star’s main weapon can wipe out entire planets. Image: starwars.wikia.com. Mr. Muirhead explained that our current ion engines have very little thrust. We would require more powerful power if we were to reach the stars. Star Wars, an American epic space opera series, is based on George Lucas’s film series. Lucas was an American filmmaker and entrepreneur. The story follows the adventures of several characters, “a long, time ago” in a galaxy far far away. It focuses on Anakin Skywalker’s rise to power (Darth Vader) and his fall. Video: How to Build a Death Star. Mr. Muirhead shows you how a Death Star could be constructed, similar to the one shown in Star Wars. This video is available on The Scene.
