The iPhone is equipped with excellent accessibility features that allow people with disabilities to access the device and get their work done. iOS 15 added a new option called Per-App Settings which lets you customize helpful accessibility settings for each app.
. Last year, we shared an iOS jailbreak tweak, Appaze 2, that allows you to customize system settings such as brightness and screen rotation on a per app basis. Now, Per-App Settings in iOS 15 are not even close to matching this tweak’s capabilities, but it certainly is a step in the right direction.
This guide shows you how anyone can use this new iOS 15 feature to personalize desired iPhone apps. This allows you to customize some app settings according to your needs.
How to use Per-App Settings on iPhone
Suppose you have an app on your iPhone which has many options crammed as small texts. It is difficult to use this app. Per-App settings allow you to change the font size and boldness of this app. This would affect only this app, and your Home Screen, Notifications, or other apps.
. If an app doesn’t have dark mode or supports iOS Dark Mode you can force the app to use Smart Invert. This will do kind of what Dark Mode does.
. There are many options available and you have numerous use cases.
Here’s how to use Per-App Settings in iOS 15:
- Open the iPhone Setting app and tap Accessibility.
- From the bottom, tap Per-App Settings.
- Tap Per-App Settings.
- Click the app that you have just added.
- Choose a setting and select On or Off.
You have successfully set the chosen setting for this app. We chose to use Smart Invert and Bold Text for our Settings app. Now, only the Settings app is able to display bold text with a dark appearance. All other apps (Home Screen and all others) have the normal fonts and appearance.
Follow the same steps to add additional apps.

Usually, the per-app settings you set reflect instantaneously in the app. If you don’t see any change in the app, force close it and restart it. It may also help to restart the iPhone.
*Please note that not every iPhone app honors Per-App Settings . Spotify, for example, does not allow bold text. Many third-party apps don’t support these accessibility settings. It seems like the app developers will add this support.
How to remove Per-App Settings in iOS 15
If you would like to revert the change, it’s easy to do that. This will show you how to change the app’s default settings or delete it completely from your Per-App Settings.
