What is a Nanobot? It sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, or a book by J.ules Verne. In reality, a Nanobot is a new type of technology that uses encapsulated nano tubes to deliver precise signals. These signals are encoded within the nanotubes, allowing them to transmit any type of information, to any size and from any direction. These nanobots have the potential to change the way we do business.

 

The potential applications for nanobots are endless. A good example is drug delivery systems. Drug delivery systems are usually composed of two separate components: the probe, which is the actual drug; and the capture nanofiber, which is the encapsulated drug. Typically, the probe is coated with various toxins that either kill or capture the target. The nanoscale encapsulation allows the nanobots to permeate the targeted surface, and deliver the drugs in a precise and targeted fashion.

 

This technology has already begun to be used to create mice that show all of the signs of disease-free living. These mice were injected with viruses which introduced nano robotics nanorobots into their circulatory system. The nanobots were found to kill all the viruses, bacteria, and parasites that invaded their body. This is the future of medicine. Where do you think the Nanobots will be next?

 

One likely area of interest is biofuels. Currently, biofuels are made from algae. The Nanobots of the future may be able to make biodiesel from the algae. The size of the Nanobot, relative to the size of the algae, would determine how easy it would be to extract the oil. The potential for advanced Nanoscale robots that can drive an automobile could also be exciting.

 

Some people have even imagined what life might be like without us. One project Nanotechnology researchers are working on is scanning human body organs to determine if they contain abnormal cells. Once the abnormal cells are identified, the Nanobots can be injected into the patient’s body to kill them. The only problem with this is that there is currently no way to identify which cells in your body might be abnormal. If this sounds like science fiction, think again. Nanotechnology researchers have completed studies showing that human body organs can be scanned and the Nanobots would live and multiply inside the organs.

 

Another exciting application of the Nanobot is how it might someday replace human doctors. Because the Nanobots are so small, the human body cannot hold them. Therefore, if a doctor were to perform a procedure that would require them to open up a human body organ, such as a lumbar opening, that person could simply turn around and have the Nanobot replacing the doctor. Since the Nanobots are so similar to blood cells, doctors will be able to read the Nanobot’s bioelectric signals to determine the state of the person’s health.

 

If we are not sure what a Nanobot is or how it works, perhaps you should try to figure this out for yourself. How would you know a new product or technology was truly invented? Would you even believe it if someone told you it was real? It is hard to believe, but true, Nanotechnology is here to stay. It is exciting because we now have the ability to explore space, find and use other life like robots, and even possibly colonize Mars. As the science fiction writer Aldous Huxley predicted back in the 1930’s, Nanotechnology will soon replace all the doctors, scientists and inventors.

 

We may soon see the creation of ” Artificial Dinos” which are microscopic robots, just like the famous “nanobot” we have seen in movies, books and television. These microscopic robotic animals will perform many of the same functions as their microscopic counterparts. These robotic dinos will be programmed to perform specific tasks in research facilities, possibly building themselves a home for their owners. Perhaps they will even be able to feel pain and to communicate with their owners, just like a dog. All of these amazing developments are still very much in the realm of science fiction, and researchers are still trying to figure out how these amazing new machines work, but one thing is for sure, with the help of nanotechnology, we may soon be able to take care of all of our medical problems with these amazing tiny machines.
